Bonang, affectionately known as the ‘Queen B,’ recently celebrated her 37th birthday in style. At a lavish dinner surrounded by family and close friends, she made a significant revelation: introducing her partner, David Phume, to the world. The robotics maverick gifted her a luxurious timepiece valued at over R280,000 for her special day.

Savanna News previously covered their passionate love story, which began when they met through a mutual friend in 2023. Last October, the couple embarked on a romantic vacation to Italy. A close friend disclosed that they’ve already met each other’s families, and David’s intention is to marry Bonang. “He’s very clear about what he wants,” the friend shared. “Bonang wouldn’t showcase him publicly if it weren’t for a serious commitment. Her mom knows him, and everyone is thrilled for them.”

Bonang’s romantic history includes relationships with Skwaata Kamp rapper and TV producer Siyabonga ‘Slikour’ Metane (who later married Melissa Wilkinson), DJ and property mogul Themba ‘DJ Euphonok’ Nkosi (with whom she parted ways due to abuse and infidelity reports), and a brief fling with Nigerian artist D’banj. She also dated the late rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes while he was still involved with DJ Zinhle Jiyane. However, after her breakup with AKA, Bonang learned to separate her personal life from her career.

David Phume, the nephew of former Mr. South Africa, Paul Phume, is a natural-born entrepreneur with charisma and creativity. Born in Johannesburg, he studied 3D animation at a private college and later graduated from a San Francisco-based animation school. His expertise extends to robotics and AI, which he pursued through online courses with Udacity. In 2005, he founded the award-winning Penthouse Motion Pictures—a broadcast design and animation studio. David’s Silicon Valley connections led him to launch Blockchain, a platform aimed at empowering young African technologists and computer scientists to address local challenges using technology.

Bonang confirmed their relationship, describing David as her soulmate and life supporter.
