Mamelodi Sundowns have set their sights on Jayden Adams, the 23-year-old midfielder hailing from Iddas Valley, Stellenbosch. The club’s interest in Adams has been widely reported in local media, sparking discussions about a potential transfer.
According to Stellenbosch FC CEO Rob Benadie, Sundowns did indeed inquire about Adams during the January transfer window. However, as of now, there has been no formal bid from the reigning league champions. Benadie clarified that Adams is not available for sale, emphasizing that no negotiations have progressed beyond the initial inquiry.
Adams has been a standout player for Stellenbosch throughout the season, contributing significantly to their success. Notably, Stellies secured victory in the Carling Black Label Cup in December and are currently favorites to finish as runners-up to Sundowns in the DStv Premiership. Additionally, Adams was part of the Bafana Bafana squad that clinched a bronze medal at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire earlier this year.
Coincidentally, Stellenbosch is set to face Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup semi-finals, where Adams is expected to play a pivotal role in helping his team reach another cup final. Despite rumors suggesting a lucrative bid from Sundowns, Benadie maintains that no formal offer has been tabled, and no deal has been concluded.
Adams boasts 30 appearances across all competitions for Stellenbosch, scoring three goals and providing eight assists this term. His talent has also been recognized on the international stage, with appearances for Bafana Bafana during the AFCON matches against Namibia and Cape Verde1.
As the transfer saga unfolds, football fans eagerly await further developments regarding Jayden Adams and his potential move to Mamelodi Sundowns.
