Mamelodi Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi has expressed confidence that the club’s promising midfielder, Kutlwano Letlhaku, is poised for an overseas move in the near future.
Mngqithi made these remarks following Sundowns’ 1-0 defeat to Stellenbosch FC in the MTN8 semi-final first leg at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Brazilians conceded a second-half goal from the penalty spot after Grant Kekana fouled Devin Titus inside the box. Kaizer Chiefs target Fawaaz Basadien stepped up to convert the spot kick in the 62nd minute.
Stellenbosch held on to their lead, securing an away-goal advantage heading into the second leg of the MTN8, scheduled for Sunday, September 1, 2024, at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Throughout the match, Sundowns struggled to execute their usual possession-based football, frequently misplacing passes in the ‘Stellies’ half. The team only found their rhythm in the second half following the introduction of Themba Zwane and the young Letlhaku.
Mngqithi’s Praise for Letlhaku
With Letlhaku displaying glimpses of his quality, coach Manqoba Mngqithi believes the young attacker has a strong chance of securing a move overseas. Mngqithi highlighted Letlhaku’s potential and the impact he could have on the international stage.
