Amapiano artist and producer Tumelo Zwane, known by his stage name Sir Trill, is grappling with industry challenges once again. His most recent single, a collaboration with Heavy K titled “Kwenzakalani,” has been taken down from streaming platforms.
The news was shared by Heavy K on social media, who apologized to fans for the removal. However, there’s a silver lining: Heavy K and Sir Trill are set to release new music on Friday.
Sir Trill’s woes intensified after he appeared on L-Tido’s podcast, where he candidly discussed his struggles within the music industry. He revealed that an unnamed “grootman” (elder) has consistently sabotaged him and failed to compensate him for his music.
DJ Maphorisa, who was implicated as the grootman on social media, responded with evidence to the contrary. He clarified that he wasn’t the one referenced in the podcast.
Maphorisa also pointed out Sir Trill’s reputation for missing gigs, suggesting that he deserves the consequences he’s facing.
Despite these challenges, Sir Trill remains committed to his craft. His heartfelt Instagram Live breakdown highlighted the hurdles he currently faces. He expressed frustration at artists who refuse to collaborate with him, even though he has contributed popular songs to their albums.
The gatekeepers in the amapiano music genre have also played a role in Sir Trill’s struggles, according to his account. Feeling discouraged, he continues to navigate the industry with a pure heart, aiming to help others along the way.
