Sello Sebotsane Issues Apology for Abusing Skeem Saam Actress Shoki Mmola

Actor Sello Sebotsane has publicly taken responsibility for his past abusive behavior towards his ex-wife, Skeem Saam actress Shoki Mmola, as well as their two children, Oratile and Karabo. This apology comes years after Shoki’s courageous revelations about the abuse she experienced during their marriage. On Tuesday, Sebotsane posted an emotional video on TikTok, addressing both his family and fans.

In his heartfelt message, Sebotsane expressed profound regret for his actions, stating, “I am deeply sorry for the hurt and harm I’ve caused you. I recognize that words cannot repair what has been broken. I am committed to bettering myself and eager to help the younger generation in combating this issue, as violence leads nowhere.”
He underscored the necessity of ending violence, repeating, “Violence is not the answer. It is simply wrong. To my fellow men and boys, let’s open up and share our feelings. Embrace vulnerability; someone will hear and understand your pain, and ultimately, you are the one who can heal yourself.”

Sebotsane also reached out to his fans: “Thank you to all my supporters. For those I’ve disappointed, I sincerely apologize. I am human, and I don’t wish to justify my past. Wrongdoing must be acknowledged and rectified. Together, we can strive to create a better world, and I am committed to doing this my way.”
Reactions on Social Media
For several weeks, Sebotsane has been trending on TikTok for various reasons. However, many users have continually pointed out his abusive actions towards Shoki, making it difficult for him to escape the controversy. His public apology has elicited mixed feedback. While some praised him for owning up to his mistakes and seeking self-improvement, others remained cautious, underlining the serious nature of the abuse Shoki endured.

Shoki Mmola’s Allegations of Abuse
Shoki Mmola first came forward with her account of the abuse in 2016, detailing traumatic incidents that left her both physically and emotionally scarred. She recounted how Sebotsane had manipulated her from the beginning of their relationship in 2003, when she was working on the set of Muvhango. As time went on, the abuse intensified, ultimately becoming violent. One harrowing episode involved Sebotsane allegedly choking her and beating her until she bled before fleeing the scene.
Reflecting on the aftermath, Shoki spoke about the toll the abuse took on her health: “For a long time, I couldn’t laugh without getting a headache. I was weak, underweight, and my skin had a gray tone.” Her candid account of the violence reveals the devastating effects of domestic abuse on survivors.
