Former ImbewuTheSeed Actress Phindile Gwala joins Smoke & Mirrors

South African actress and television star Phindile Gwala is making bold moves with her career and has announced that she is joining production company Smoke & Mirrors.

Gwala, who is best known for her role as Zama in SABC 1’s popular drama series, Imbewu: The Seed, will be joining Smoke & Mirrors as a Talent Associate. The new role was recently announced by the production company.

In a statement, Smoke & Mirrors praised Gwala’s talents and professionalism. “We are delighted to announce the addition of Phindile Gwala to our team. She brings a wealth of skill and experience and we are confident that she will make a significant contribution to our production company.”

Gwala has had a successful career in South African television and film. She began her career as a performer for Bocha Productions in 2007, before becoming one of the stars of Seasons 8 and 9 of Strictly Come Dancing on M-Net.

In 2013, Gwala took on the character of Zama on Imbewu which quickly made her a household name. Her award-winning portrayal of Zama earned her the honour of being nominated at the Royalty Soapie Awards in each of the show’s three seasons.

In joining Smoke & Mirrors, Gwala is taking a big step in her career. “I’m excited to join Smoke & Mirrors and leverage my extensive experience and skills as a Talent Associate. I am passionate about telling South African stories through film and television and I look forward to working on projects with the company.”
