It appears like the real revival of South African hip hop is about to start as rap heavyweights gear to release new music, one in challenge of the other. Come with us. Big Zulu recently released a song dubbed “150 Bars,” in which he dissed several key voices in South African rap. Some South African rappers had dropped diss responses to that track, and Mzansi had celebrated them all.
With the noise slowly dying down about the diss track, big Zulu had informed fans that he’s dropping a new single in collaboration with Nasty C and Patoraking, titled “We Run the Road.” In reply to the tweeter announcement, Cassper had noted that he’s dropping a response to Big Zulu’s diss track at midnight the same time Big Zulu said he’d release new music.
He thereafter shared a short clip, seemingly a response to Big Zulu’s diss track. Clearly, the full track will be out soon. At this rate, it becomes even more exciting for the culture as the big names go at each other without malice in a bid to pick Mzansi hip hop from the dust. It will be interesting to see where this leads to.
