Here we go again! Eskom is implementing another round of load reduction in five provinces on Sunday evening, 4 September 2022.
REMINDER – What is load reduction? It is slightly different from load shedding – it is used to reduce the increasing demand for electricity that is supplied to members of the public. This is usually in neighbourhoods where illegal connections cause overload and damage infrastructure. Load reduction is meant to protect the infrastructure.
The embattled power utility has urged those who are bracing for the power outages to not report them. Load reduction will be re-introduced in Limpopo, Gauteng, Free State, North West and KwaZulu-Natal (KZN).
“During the load reduction implementation, customers are urged to switch off all their electrical appliances to avoid possible damage due to power surges when supply returns. Failure to do so may lead to transformer trips or failures, and damages to household appliances when supply is restored,” Eskom said.
ESKOM: LOAD REDUCTION ON SUNDAY
